GamePoint Club's Mission Objectives

GamePoint Club provides a one-stop shop to purchase gaming credits and digital goods for a plethora of online games. They are on a mission to create the most connected, trusted, and efficient gaming recharge platform for their users. To fulfill their aim of being a trusted online game top-up platform, GamePoint Club chose to partner with SHIELD, the world’s leading risk intelligence company, to enhance trust and safety on their platform.

“SHIELD’s Risk Intelligence has been crucial in stopping fraudsters from causing disruption to the trusted community we’ve built. They’ve been a great partner as we expand worldwide and supercharge our growth.”

Boosting Organic Growth by Weeding Out Fake Accounts

As part of their user acquisition efforts, GamePoint Club was holding promotion and referral campaigns. However, they knew that such campaigns were the perfect opportunity for fraudsters to reap benefits in a quick and easy way. Fraudsters can create fake accounts to use the same promo code multiple times on different accounts, and even use these accounts to refer themselves over and over again. Fraudsters may also use bots to supercharge this and exploit campaigns at scale.

While these campaigns were seeing great success, GamePoint Club wanted to ensure that their growth was coming from genuine users. They leveraged the SHIELD ID, the global standard for device identification, to detect devices linked to multiple accounts. The persistence of the SHIELD ID made sure that promotion and referral codes were being used only by genuine users, even when fraudsters were factory resetting their devices and masking their locations to appear as new accounts.

Putting An End To Revenue Leakage

Operating in several countries across Southeast Asia, GamePoint Club knew they would be vulnerable to fraudsters spoofing their locations to take advantage of pricing disparities across different countries. For example, a fraudster could be located in Thailand but use a proxy server to make it seem as though they are located in Malaysia. By doing so, they would be able to make payments with Malaysian Ringgit. Price arbitrage could cause GamePoint Club revenue leakage because fraudulent users were purchasing items at a cheaper price than in their own market.

GamePoint Club leveraged SHIELD’s Risk Indicators to put a stop to price arbitrage. The SHIELD Risk Indicators identify when and which malicious tools are in use to carry out fraud. GamePoint Club uncovered the devices using proxy servers to appear in a different location and were able to ban these users from their platform.

Mike Goh, CEO of GamePoint Club commented, “The precision of the SHIELD Risk Indicators is undeniable. We’re able to stay ahead of the curve by stopping fraudsters before they can do any damage.”

Going Global with SHIELD’s Global Intelligence Network

On a mission to be the first choice for global gaming recharge, GamePoint Club strengthened their defenses with SHIELD. SHIELD’s actionable risk intelligence allowed GamePoint Club to stay ahead of new and unknown fraud threats and stop fraudsters before they had the chance to exploit the offerings on the GamePoint Club platform.

With plans to expand the platform worldwide, GamePoint Club can also use SHIELD’s Global Intelligence Network, a continuously updating global fraud library, to stay ahead of new and emerging fraud attacks, and protect their growing user base.

“SHIELD’s Risk Intelligence has been crucial in stopping fraudsters from causing disruption to the trusted community we’ve built. They’ve been a great partner as we expand worldwide and supercharge our growth,” said Mike Goh, CEO of GamePoint Club.
